Kneller Hall

Case Study Overview
Kneller Hall is Dukes Education’s largest project to date: the conversion of the former Royal Military School of Music in Twickenham into a 1,000-pupil senior school for Years 7 to 13, across 30 acres.
We have been involved since before acquisition, providing masterplanning, planning strategy and cost planning, and we continue to provide project management, cost consultancy and interior design. The masterplan refurbishes and redevelops multiple buildings, including listed structures, into classrooms, performance spaces, swimming pools and sports facilities for the school and the wider community, alongside new science laboratories, design and technology rooms, a Forest School and a nature reserve, with interiors that are adaptable and biophilic and carry current technology without overwhelming the historic fabric.
Over half the site is Metropolitan Open Land and stays green. Holding cost and programme through a protracted planning process was central to the work; planning permission is secured and the project remains on site.
